The Banasura Dam is a concrete gravity dam on the Karamanathodu River, a tributary of the Kabini River, in Wayanad district of Kerala, India. The primary purpose of the dam is hydroelectric power generation and it supports a 400 MW power station. The dam was completed in 1979 and its power station began operation in 1980. The dam is named for Banasura, a legendary asura (demon) king who is said to have built it.
