Kangra Fort is an ancient fortification in Kangra, Himachal Pradesh, India. The fort is located on the left bank of the Beas River, atop a hill. The fort is accessed via a long flight of stairs. The fort is in ruins, but the remains are well preserved. The fort was initially built by the Katoch dynasty in the 4th century. The fort was rebuilt and enlarged by the Parmar dynasty in the 10th century. The fort was further enlarged and strengthened by the Mughals in the 16th century. The fort was captured by the British in 1846. The fort has a number of Hindu and Jain temples. The most notable temple is the Lakshmi Narayan Temple, which is dedicated to the Hindu god Vishnu. The temple is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
