Kumbala is a census town in Kasargod district in the Indian state of Kerala. As of 2001 India census, Kumbala had a population of 9,583. Males constitute 49% of the population and females 51%. Kumbala has an average literacy rate of 83%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 86%, and female literacy is 80%. In Kumbala, 10% of the population is under 6 years of age. Kumbala is a small town in Kasargod district of Kerala. It is located about 22 kilometers from the district headquarters and is well connected by road. The town is situated on the National Highway 66 (formerly NH 17) between Mangalore and Kasargod. The town is home to a few educational institutions including a government higher secondary school and a few private schools. There are also a few hospitals in the town. The town is mainly known for its production of coir products. There are a few coir mills in the town that manufacture a variety of coir products. The town also has a few small industries that manufacture a variety of products including soap, tiles, and handicrafts. The town is also home to a few temples including the Kumbala Sree Mahadeva Temple.
