How this archaelogical site became a cat sanctuary

In 1997, the archaeological site of Torre Argentina in Rome became a cat sanctuary after a colony of cats moved in and took up residence among the ruins. The cats were fed by locals and soon began to breed, and the Torre Argentina sanctuary was born. Today, the sanctuary is home to around 200 cats, who are cared for by a team of volunteers.
