About Madhav National Park

Shivpuri Madhav National Park is located in Shivpuri district of Madhya Pradesh. It was established in 1965 as a wildlife sanctuary. In 1974, it was declared as a national park. The park is spread over an area of 635.8 square kilometers. The park is home to a variety of wildlife species including tigers, leopards, deer, sambar, chital, nilgai, wild boar, sloth bear, porcupine, jackal, jungle cat, and four-horned antelope. The park is well-known for its birdlife. It is home to around 250 species of birds including the Indian peafowl, grey junglefowl, painted stork, Asian openbill stork, black-headed ibis, white-breasted kingfisher, and Indian roller. Shivpuri Madhav National Park is a popular tourist destination.
