History of Jamia Masjid
The Jamia Masjid Srinagar was built by Emperor Akbar in 1591. The mosque is located on the banks of the Jhelum River in the old city of Srinagar. The mosque was badly damaged in an earthquake in 1905 and was rebuilt in 1907.
