As we drive out of Auckland, your guide will not only set the scene for your adventure today but also point out some of the city's top highlights. Travel south through the stunning Waikato countryside, the most extensive farming area in the world, encountering beautiful scenery, mighty rivers, great photo opportunities, impressive mountains and several farm animals along the way.

As we enter the Coromandel Peninsula, we will begin to discover its untouched beauty. Famous as a favorite holiday spot for locals, this area is rich with stunning white sand beaches, extensive native forests and unbeatable views of the Pacific Ocean coastline. Enjoy stops along the way for short walks to viewpoints and great spots for photos during your journey through this breathtaking area.

After lunch, visit the renowned Hot Water Beach, where you can dig a hole in the sand to create your own naturally heated geothermal water bath. *Tip: Dig your hole at the edge of the beach to allow ocean waves to gently roll in and cool you off occasionally. What could be better than a natural geothermal spa on the beach!

In the morning check-out from your hotel and you will be transferred to the airport to catch your flight to Queenstown. On arrival in Queenstown, you will be transferred and check-in to your hotel. Overnight stay.

Info Lord of the Rings Queenstown

The perfect tour for those that want the thrills of an off road adventure but also want to discover exciting Lord of the Rings filming locations. The Wakatipu Basin tour takes you to The Remarkables, which were used as various mountains throughout the trilogy including the Misty Mountains. Travelling part way up Queenstown hill you get a birds eye view onto Deer Park Heights, which was used for the refugees of Rohan and the Battle of the Wargs scenes. Travelling from The Remarkables viewpoint we head to the Kawarau Gorge where the filming took place for the Argonath, or Pillars of the Kings. Leaving the Kawarau Gorge the trip heads to Arrowtown where the loss of The One Ring at Gladden Fields was shot. Near Arrowtown you will experience a true off road adventure. Following a historic gold mining road up the Arrow River you will cross the river many times to get to the Ford of Bruinen. At this point you can indulge in morning or afternoon tea and try your hand at a spot of gold panning. From Arrowtown you will travel to the entrance of Skippers Canyon where you will be offered spectacular panoramic views of the Wakatipu Basin and into Skippers Canyon

Experience 25-minutes of exhilarating adventure from the heart of Queenstown's town centre. Jump on the Queenstown Jet for an adrenaline rush like no other. Join an electric ride filled with speed, thrills and plenty of those famous 360-degree spins. Take in the stunning scenery with the wind in your face as you race across Lake Whakatipu and head down the Kawarau River. The experienced jet boat drivers will get you up close and personal with the lake's edge, skimming past trees and any obstacles in the way. Be sure to hold on to your hats as you navigate under not one, but two bridges at speed.
