Namchi or Namtse is the capital of the district of South Sikkim in the Indian state of Sikkim. The appellation Namchi means Sky (Nam) High (Chi) in Sikkimese.

 

Namchi is situated at an altitude of 1,675 m (5500 feet) above sea level. It is situated at a distance of 78 kilometres (48 mi) from the state capital Gangtok and 100 kilometres (62 mi) from the town of Siliguri, the nearest railhead and airport. Namchi lies off the road between Melli and Jorethang.

 

Historically, Namchi was the place where Pende Ongmoo, the treacherous princess who poisoned one of the Chogyals of Sikkim, was caught and killed for her deed. Legend says her spirit still haunts the foothills of Ghurpisey

After breakfast transfer to Pelling .Pelling is blessed with unparalleled natural beauty, with panoramic views of the Kanchenjunga range, the third-highest peak in the world, dominating the skyline. The town is enveloped in a blanket of mist and clouds, adding to its ethereal charm and mystical allure. After breakfast transfer to Gangtok enroute visit Temi Tea Estate,Tea Factory.Check in at Gangtok Hotel.

Morning breakfast at hotel – Excursion Nathula Pass (China Border) to Tsomgo Lake & Baba Mandir ( New ) nearly 40 kilometers – The Lake is oval shaped lake nearly 50 feet deep – Generally covered in snow for most of the year the year – This lake is home to the Brahmini ducks & many migratory birds – Nearby is the sacred Baba Mandir known to be a very holy site for all – Nathu La Pass to Republic of China is nearly 20 kilometers and is optional – Back to Gangtok – Evening free to roam around M G Road (Mall) or local Shopping center – Over Night stay at Gangtok (Incase of Landslide or due to any other reasons if Tshangu Lake is closed then an alternate sightseeing will be provided

After breakfast, bid goodbye to the hills as you head back to NJP or Bagdogra for your onward journey—carrying with you sweet memories of Gangtok & Pelling.
