The life of Tulsidas
There is no definitive answer to this question as the life of Tulsidas is shrouded in legend and myth. However, it is believed that he was born in 1532 in the town of Rajapur, in the Chitrakoot district of Uttar Pradesh, India. He is said to have been a devotee of the Hindu god Rama from a young age, and is believed to have composed the Ramcharitmanas, a retelling of the Ramayana, in the vernacular Hindi language. He is also said to have spent time in exile in the forest, where he is said to have had a series of spiritual experiences that led him to become a renunciate. He is also said to have founded the Sankatmochan Temple in Varanasi. Tulsidas is said to have died in 1623.
