The ancient Palace of Malia, located on the north coast of Crete, was one of the most important Minoan palaces on the island. It was in use from approximately 1800 BC until 1400 BC, and is estimated to have housed up to 5,000 people. The Palace of Malia is one of the best preserved Minoan palaces, and is open to visitors. It is a large complex, made up of a number of buildings, courtyards, and gardens. Highlights include the Grand staircase, the Procession corridor, and the Queen’s Megaron.
