Deoghar is a city and municipality in the Santhal Parganas division of the Indian state of Jharkhand. Deoghar is the second most populous city in Jharkhand after Ranchi. It is also the administrative headquarters of the Deoghar district. The city is located on the banks of the river Bahera, a tributary of the Damodar River. It is a religious place for Hindus and is known as the Baidyanath Dham, being the site of the ancient temple of Baidyanath.
