The village is situated on the banks of the Ferozpur Nallah, a tributary of the Jhelum River. The village is connected to the city of Srinagar by a road that passes through the Jawahar Tunnel. The village is a popular tourist destination, and is home to the Gulmarg Gondola, a cable car system that provides transportation to the ski resort of Gulmarg. The village is also home to the Alpather Lake, a high-altitude lake located at an elevation of 4,600 meters.
