About Dachau concentration camp Dachau concentration camp was the first concentration camp in Nazi Germany, opened in 1933. About 200,000 people were imprisoned here, of whom more than 41,000 died. The concentration camp is located in the town of Dachau, about 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) northwest of Munich. The Dachau concentration camp Memorial is open every day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free.
