Phaselis was an ancient city on the Mediterranean coast of Turkey. It was founded in the 7th century BC by colonists from Rhodes. The city was located in a strategic position on the trade routes between Anatolia and the Levant. Phaselis was conquered by the Persians in the 6th century BC, and by the Romans in the 3rd century BC. The city declined in the Late Roman period. The city was excavated by the University of Michigan in the 1920s and 1930s. The site is open to the public. The ruins of Phaselis are located on the coast of the Turkish province of Antalya.
