They are about 60 kilometres (37 mi) from the city of Nashik. The falls are created by the river Godavari which drops from a height of about 320 metres (1,050 ft). The river splits into two parts as it falls, and the falls are known as the Dudhsagar Falls or "Sea of Milk".
