About Hofburg

The Hofburg Palace in Vienna is one of the most important tourist attractions in Austria. It served as the imperial palace of the Habsburg dynasty for centuries. The Hofburg Palace was originally the home of the Babenberg dynasty. In the 13th century, the palace was extended by Rudolf I, who also founded the Hofburg Imperial Court. In the 15th century, the Hofburg was rebuilt in the Renaissance style by Friedrich III. In the 16th century, it was extended again by Maximilian I. In the 18th century, the Hofburg was remodeled in the Baroque style by Johann Bernhard Fischer von Erlach. In the 19th century, the Hofburg was extended by Franz Joseph I. The Hofburg Palace is now used as the official residence of the president of Austria. It also serves as a museum and tourist attraction. The Hofburg Palace is open to the public from 9:00am to 5:30pm. Admission is €10.00 for adults and €5.00 for children.
