History of Mettur Dam

The Mettur Dam was constructed across the Kaveri River between 1933 and 1934. The dam was designed by Sir M. Visvesvaraya. The dam was inaugurated by the then Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru, on 15 May 1934.
